It will be the 60th MELODI GRAND PRIX edition and the country has can really celebrate after their remarkable result in Eurovision 2019 where KEiiNO won the public voting. The 2020 edition will include six shows all of them taking place in Oslo
Specifically, the MGP 2020 version will consist of five semifinals and one major final. Both the semifinals and the grand final will take place in Oslo. Each semifinal will feature artists from the following areas:
11/1 First Semi-Final – Northern Norway
18/1 Second Semi-Final – Central Norway
25/1 Third Semi-Final – Western Norway
01/2 Fourth Semi-Final – Eastern Norway
08/2 Fifth Semi-Final – Southern Norway

In a press conference on January 3rd, we will find out the five direct qualifiers for the final. Every Monday before each semi-final we will learn the artists and the songs for the show.
In each semi-final, the artists will compete in pairs until one prevails, a process reminiscent of the “Golden Duel” we knew until last year.
In each semi-final, it is the audience that determines the outcome. There is no involvement of the jury. The jury for this year has only been tasked with selecting five of the ten finalists. In this way, the Norwegians have the opportunity to take the outcome of the selection of the country’s representative in the Eurovision competition in their hands.
Each semifinal is expected to last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. In each show we will have the opportunity, in addition to the artists and their songs which will undoubtedly have the first reason, to learn more about each region of Norway individually.
Twenty-five artists will compete this year. There will surely be several well-known faces among them.
The hosts are expected to be announced in December.
