NORWAY – Stavangerkameratene is a Norwegian group from Stavanger established in 2015. The group consists of Kjartan Salvesen, Tommy Fredvang, Glenn Lyse and Ole Alexander Mæland who were all established artists at the start. Salvesen and Lyse won Idol in 2004 and 2007 respectively, Fredvang participated in X Factor in 2009 while Mæland participated in The Voice in 2012 and was a vocalist in Elle Melle.
The collaboration started when the four were asked to perform together at the opening of the volleyball WC in Stavanger in 2015 and were called Stavanger comrades by presenter Stian Blipp.
Their first release was the single “Wake me up”, a Norwegian version of Avicii’s hit “Wake Me Up”, released on March 11, 2016. They had performed it the year before on their first appearance at the World Volleyball Championships. In the summer of the same year, they released their second single, “Bare så du vett det” and on June 2, 2017, they released their debut album Stavangerkameratene. They have received a double-platinum trophy for “Just so you know it” which has achieved over 20 million streams, platinum for the debut album with over 34 million streams, and gold for “Wake me up” with over 3 million streams.
In the autumn of 2016, the quartet participated in the serial about the Stavanger comrade in Einar Tørnquist and John Brungot’s program series Live on TV 2. In June 2017, they were the warm-up band for Mods at their two concerts at Viking Stadium in front of an audience of over 40,000. In November 2018, they filled the DnB Arena in Stavanger with 5,500 spectators.
On October 5, 2018, they released their second album, Ein for alle.
The Stavanger comrades were to travel on their 4th Norwegian tour in 2020, but due to the corona pandemic, this was postponed until 2021. They had per. 31.12.2020 over 50 million streams on Spotify.
On 11 January 2021, it was announced that Stavagerkameratene is one of the pre-qualified finalists for the Melodi Grand Prix 2021, Saturday 20 February 2021, with the song «Barndomsgater». The first performance will take place on Saturday 23 January 2021 on NRK 1. “Barndomsgater” released on Friday 22 January, while the English version “Who I Am” will be released on Friday 12 February.
