NORWAY – The Norwegian national broadcaster, NRK, opened today (officially) the period for submissions regarding the 2021 Melodi Grand Prix edition, through which the country will decide its Eurovision entry for Rotterdam next year.
Originally, the 2020 chosen entrant Ulrikke, who couldn’t participate in Eurovision due to the cancellation of the event, was invited to participate in the MGP 2021 edition without having to go through an audition.
The singer kindly declined, stating that she will following other projects.
Submissions due on August 16th and the announcement of the qualifiers will take place sometime within January 2021. It is expected fr NRK to use the same format as they did with this year’s MGP edition.
In the rules of the applications, we see that NRK wants at least one of the authors to be Norwegian, each producer and author can submit up to three songs, they welcome all music genres.
