OSLO, NORWAY – Norwegian Eurostars have performed at the opening of the World Championship in Biathlon tonight in Oslo. The winner of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, Alexander Rybak, opened the competition. He has also been involved in the official song of the sporting event titled “Miracles”, where he plays the violin.
Also singing tonight was Norwegian singer Wenche Myhre, who represented Germany at the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest. Myhre spent a large span of her career in Germany. However she also attempted to represent her home country Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest on several occasions, including 1964, 1966, 1992 and 2009 but failed to make it past the national selection.
Freddy Kalas, who was the runner up at this year’s Norwegian national selection, also performed during the opening.
Finally, Eurovision icon and Swedish representative on three occasions, as well as one-time winner, Carola, will perform at the sporting event a day before its closing on March 12.
