Zena is bringing that unique Irish atmosphere on stage (avoiding the Leprechaun, shamrock and green cliché). It’s a pleasant melodic ballad that turn into something more popish. Zena is smiling the whole song, and she seems well at ease on stage, unlike other contestants. Ok, to be honest, I still don’t think Irish is the easiest language to perform a modern act, but the outcome is way better than last year’s entry. Certainly not a winner though… But one never knows, there are Irish jurors in the expert jury…
On stage we have a Celtic princess, a ballad tune and Gaelic language. A combination that is unique and if I was a jury member I would have definitely ranked it high. What is good with Zena is that she is unique, she convinces you with her facials that she believes what she says (no matter that you cannot understand them). A wonderful language and a vocal performance which creates an atmospheric combination inside the MCC auditorium. Well done Ireland, I am sure you will do well on Sunday.
