PRESS RELEASE / POLAND – Easter Holidays is a special period for all Poles – it gathers families, and fills them with peace and joy. However, these holidays are special also because our sisters and brothers from Ukraine are present in many Polish homes.
“We know how important it is to be together in these times, and the Eurovision Song Contest for us is not only an opportunity to celebrate music but also mutual support. Our hearts are always and will always be open to those, who fight for freedom and independence.” – says Maja Frybes, head of the Polish delegation.
“We know, that even with small gestures like our Easter breakfast together, we can show that in every darkness there is a light that has great power. I am convinced, that this is the beginning of a beautiful, long-lasting friendship.”
The team came to the studio of Pytanie Na Śniadanie (a popular Polish breakfast TV show) on Monday morning, wherein the company of Krystian Ochman and the Hosts – Ida Nowakowska-Herdon (JESC 2019 & 2020 Host) and Robert El Gendy, they talked about the current situation in Ukraine, but also about the traditions related to Easter.
During the breakfast together, Krystian returned to his childhood memories, where his grandfather was the animator of Easter games and often organized for them the Easter Egg hunt around the house. Grandma was (and is!) a master in cooking the most delicious “żurek” (special Easter sour soup).
Ochman equally emphasized, how important for him is tradition and time spent only with his family, so apart from the Eurovision busy time related to the pre-party in Madrid and the wonderful meeting with friends from Ukraine, he immediately went to his grandparents to celebrate the holidays.
The representatives of Ukraine emphasize how hard time their Nation is going through and how they need support from all over the world – the team left their families in Kalush (Ivano-Frankivsk region) and travels around Europe to spread the news about the situation there and raise funds to help victims of the war.
“We run a charity organization – we are a team of 35 people – where we help with the organization of accommodation and the transport of medicines for the Ukrainians. Anyone can join us, and if anyone needs support – write us on Instagram!” – said Oleh Psiuk, group leader.
