ITALY – Last November Matteo Gaudimundo, venue manager of the PalaOlimpico (Pala Alpitour), had anticipated that Piazza DโArmi would host a fundamental part of the Eurovision machine.
As reported by Corriere Torino, the area located behind the Olympic Stadium, home of Torino Calcio next to the building where the singing festival will take place, will be home to a real village designed for the 41 delegations competing and the 1,500 journalists and bloggers expected from 29 April to 14 May in Turin.
On March 15 the works will start – presented at Palazzo Civico yesterday evening, Thursday 20 March, and approved today by the city council – for the construction of two structures, one of 3 thousand square meters which will be converted into the so-called “delegation bubble” and one from 5 thousand square meters in the centre of the lawn in the Cavalieri Park of Vittorio Veneto for the media.
Inside the latter, there will be workstations, maxi screens connected to the building, conference rooms, spaces for interviews with artists and dining areas.
Two bridges, accessible only by professionals and accredited persons, will connect both facilities within the Pala Olimpico.
The public, on the other hand, will have access to the arena through about ten gates.
There will also be a Covid area dedicated to artists. At the moment the ASL and the Piedmont Region are in close contact with the Municipality of Turin for the definition of an ad hoc health protocol for Eurovision 2022.
