PORTUGAL – RTP, the Portuguese national broadcaster, will be announcing the 16 “Festival da Canção” participants starting today, 1 per day. However, some names are already known, according to the latest news in Portuguese media.
The three former winners of “The Voice of Portugal” are confirmed: Fernando Daniel (The Voice Portugal 4 winner), Deolinda Kinzimba (The Voice 3 winner) and Rui Drumond (The Voice 2 winner) will be competing to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Rui Drumond is repeating the experience: he was the Portuguese representative back in 2005 as member of the duo 2B.
Pedro Gonçalves, runner-up of The Voice Portugal 4, is also confirmed as one of the national semifinalists, as well as Lena d’ Agua, popular singer in the 80’s presently far away from the music scene.
After one year of absence, Portugal will be competing again in the Eurovision Song contest. “Festival da Canção” will include two semifinals, respectively on February 19 and 26. The final is scheduled to March 5.
