SPAIN -Tanxugueiras officially presents Terra, their candidacy for Eurovision 2021. The Benidorm Fest candidates have published their song tonight, marked by its energetic production and its tribute to Galician roots and the future of Galician culture and folklore.
The subject will stand out in the TVE preselection for being the first composition in an official language of the State other than Spanish after 60 years of participation by the public channel. The milestone is such that Tanxugueiras has not wanted to exclude other languages, winking in Catalan, Basque, Asturianu, as well as closing in Spanish.
Just a month ago, they took a step forward:
“It was not in our plans to pick up the glove that was raised with the poll, but to see the support of Eurovision fans and the interest it generates among other groups and in our environment … We are so grateful that we think why not? E alá foi! [Here we go!]”
The objective of Tanxugueiras is clear:
“We want people to know our tradition and our language. It is a good opportunity to publicize the musical quality that we have in Galicia and show that a co-official language can occupy a great stage such as Eurovision ”, they came to affirm to this newspaper. “At the time we commented that if we were to appear it would be with the condition of being Tanxugueiras. And we keep it: we want to be ourselves and continue with our sound ”.
Terra’s post gives good faith that they have been true to themselves. Throughout the theme, the tambourines vindicate their roots, folklore and the concept that “there are no borders.” As they admitted in their last interview:
“We want to reflect the importance of roots, culture and language. Also the community and the brotherhood between peoples and cultures ”.
