ROMANIA – Romania is preparing national selection for Eurovision 2019. Deadline for submitting songs was last Monday and now it’s waiting to the revelation of the 24 semifinalists.
The submission period for the 2019 edition of Romaniaโs Eurovision selection โ Selectia Nationala has ended, and TVR received a total of 126 songs for next yearโs Contest. This is almost 70% more than for the 2018 edition. TVR has formed a preselection jury which is going to listen to the 126 submitted songs, and select up to 24 which will proceed to the semi finals of Selectia Nationala. The qualifiers will be announced by 20th of December.
However talks are already start to be spread. It is highly rumoured that 16 year old Laura Bretan will be taking part in national selection. US born Laura from Romanian parents rose fame by winning in 2016 Romania got talent and reaching the finals of America got talent. She performed there amongst with Il Volo.
It seems she has submitted a song for Romanian selection which is due to be held in January and February. One of her Facebook posts hints she will be singing a song from Mihai Alexandru who wrote ‘Yodel it’ the 2017 Romanian entry. And recently she met 1990 ESC winner Toto Cotugno mentioning specifically Eurovision. Will we see her on ESC Stage in Romania and ultimately in Israel? Time will tell…
