PODGORICA, MONTENEGRO – Montenegrin national broadcaster is seriously thinking upon their participation in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, not because of budget problems, not because of low TV rates but because of the jury annulment by EBU during the Eurovision Grand Final this year.
As Sabrija Vulic (HoD for senior and junior Eurovision) explained to our partners at http://www.wiwibloggs.com, the decision for the country’s participation in 2016 will depend on the decision of the Reference Group
“We sent an official letter to the reference group with more questions, among them a plea to explain on what basis five people can’t have similar views and on what basis did they conclude that the regularity of the voting of our jury was incorrect. We played fair, but because of someone’s whim, we’re paying the price. The damage is already done, as the regional media is talking more of annulment of the jury votes, rather than of Knez’s success. That is why our participation is still questionable.”
With Knez qualifying to the final and ranked 13th, his country marked the best result in the contest ever. Although it’s weird why the jury voting was cancelled by EBU it might also raises questions like why some jury votes weren’t questioned when they ranked top favourites like Italy in extremely low rankings!
