KOSOVO – RTK is trying once again to participate in the next Eurovision Song Contest despite not yet applying for full membership in the EBU. This didn’t stop them from participating in some Eurovision Family events in the past but that was under EBU invitation. Though it remains politically problematic for them to participate as countries such as Russia, Spain, Georgia, Ukraine, Molsova and Greece haven’t recognised the country. Though local press claims that EBU re-assues RTK that they will go through to Eurovision Song Contest. In the past Rona Nishliu and Lindita Halimi represented Albania although descended from Kosovo in 2012 and 2017 respectively. In the meantime Portugal, the host country of 2018 Eurovision has recognised Kosovo as independent state which at least will not create a problem in case EBU permits them to participate.
