PORTUGAL – In the weeks since winning Eurovision 2017, RTP have been busy looking for a venue to host the event in 2018.
Although the preferred choice is still Lisbon, as it provides the biggest available venue and being the country’s capital, has good transportation links, an RTP delegation, have, as was previously mentioned, been visiting possible alternative venues.
In this case, Head of Eurovision delegation for RTP, Carla Bugalho Trindade made her way to Feira, to meet with the President of the Municipal Body of Santa Maria of Feira, Emídio Sousa and the municipal administrator of Feira Viva, Paulo Sérgio Pais.
The meeting was aimed at presenting Feira as a possible venue to host Eurovision 2018. This is alongside another desire to host from Porto and further offer from Gondomar and Espinho.
It is yet unknown which method RTP will use to choose the host city but it is something which EBU will be looking forward to knowing as soon as possible, so as to avoid problems, like those seen in Kiev during Eurovision 2017.
