SPAIN – With the producer of LA VOZ taking over the production of Benidorm Fest, today RTVE announced the participants for Benidorm Fest 2022. A few days ago oikotimes has exclusively revealed to you 7 of them, which are today confirmed by RTVE.
Throughout the Eurovision pre-season, anticipation for the return of Spain’s Benidorm Festival has grown. Although RTVE had intended to unveil 12 participants, the identities of the 14 participating performers and songs were announced today — and they include some known faces!
Because of the high quality of the 886 entries, RTVE enlarged the final lineup to 14 tracks from an original 12. The artists will compete in two semi-finals of seven songs each, with four acts from each semi-final advancing to the Benidorm Festival grand final. The tracks themselves are set to be released on December 23rd.
Eva Mora, the Spanish delegation’s head of delegation, underlined the significance of diversity in the chosen songs, stating that the selection committee evaluated “authenticity,” “innovation,” and “tolerance for many forms of musical genres.”
