RUSSIA – According to ru.eurovision’s Instagram account, it is said that one of the Eurovision accounts had launched a campaign to exclude Russia from the contest with the hashtag #eurovisionwithoutrussia.
The one who started the campaign wrote specifically:
“Leave the #hashtag below the messages on the social networks of the official pages of the Eurovision Song Contest. Post messages, stories and tag us and the official page of the contest. “We can not stay aside,” they wrote on their social networks.
According to the account, he states that he considered the hashtag a very bad move since Eurovision is not a political competition and the audience of the competition may not follow the political situation in the country at all.
The contest aims to unite all countries musically, but with the launch of such campaigns, fans of the contest violate the fundamental principles of Eurovision.
The following former Russian representatives at Eurovision spoke out against the ongoing war on social media:
- Manizha (2021)
- Little Big (2020)
- Sergey Lazarev (2019, 2016)
- Julia Samoylova (2018)
- Elena Temnikova (2007)
- Natalia Podolskaya (2005)
- Lena Katina (2003)
