Russian media started (finally) to focus on the big Russian scandal after the presentation of Dina Garipova’s entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2013 titled “What If”. The Russian press dni.ru reports that the discussion has risen over possible plagiarism accusation. Russian bloggers accuse the song not only for a resemblance with Her’say’s song recently reported by oikotimes.com and “hidden” by most fan sites, but also from other songs from Poland, “Pozhvol Zhych”, which in 2005 made โโit to first place in the Polish national charts.
Neither the Garipova nor its management has not responded to the allegations of plagiarism. Channel One was suppose to gather submissions for a Eurovision entry, a number which exceeded the one of 100 songs from various countries of the world including United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Cyprus etc., but the final decision was in favor of… Sweden! said Yuri Aksyuta.
Gabriel Alaresom and Joachim Bornbergom in collaboration with Russian guitarist Leonid Gutkin specifically for the “Eurovision”, allegedly caught in plagiarism, RIA Novosti reported. Dina’s mentor Gradski Alexander (from The Voice Russia) believes that this allegation has no basis as their main concern is to attack and discredit the artist and the entry.
Alexander Gradsky defends the singer and the song saying that there is no over limit plagiarism equal to what plagiarism is (12 notes that is) and that Dina should be left out of this.
