#SoniaAndSakis #concert #odeonofherodesatticus
But the following day Sakis had to compliment one his concert sponsors, Mercedes-Benz. The sponsors lifted a car in the premises of Herodeion and shot a photo with Sakis for their promo activities in the social media.
It was natural for social media users and the Greek sentiment to uprise. The comments were hugely negative asking (more of demanding) for the Ministry of Culture to respond to why they allowed this to happen.
It is since forever, that Greeks are very strict with anything commercial activity within archaeological sites and for decades, the state loses millions of sponsorships as they are forced to decline international campaigns to be photographed or filmed in sites like the Acropolis, Sounio etc.
THE GOVERNMENT RECTED IMMEDIATELY
Immediately the Greek Ministry of Culture gave an official statement, clearly saying that there was no permission from the government for such commercial activity. They also promised to issue a fine.
THE REACTION FO SAKIS
The post was immediately withdrawn from the social platforms. As a pure gentleman, Sakis Rouvas immediately also, issued an apology statement practically saying that they didn’t understand the mistake they did as they were shooting in the premises and not inside the venue and when they realised it they removed the post.
Well, to be honest, it’s not the first time that there are protests for commercial activity outside the Herodeion Auditorium of Athens. A few years ago the current PM’s wife held a fashion show in the same place but she managed to get a government licence because the show was for charity!
Well, you know how things work in Greece, so the comments are all yours…!
