SAN MARINO – Senhit surprised us again with the cover and video of EVERYWAY THAT I CAN, the song with which Sertab Erener brought the first-ever trophy to Turkey in 2003.
Senhit uploaded the video on YouTube and made the following statement.
“…This video is a reflection on the image of democracy and equality behind which our society is hiding, where we all too often allow people who discriminate to walk around with their heads straight up! We are living a Hollywood that is crying, showing its vulnerability and its flaws. Marilyn Monroe and Madonna’s American dream, the fairy tales we were told as children, the idolisation of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion show themselves for what they are: dictatorships of a perfect image to follow.”
The big irony for Senhit to use the words democracy and equality for a song coming from the country where those two words have totally lost their meaning!
Senhit will represent San Marino in Eurovision 2021, announced a few days ago that it is launching #FreakyTripToRotterdam, a project in which it will present as a video clip every month, an earlier Eurovision entry.
The first video of this effort was TEO’s Cheesecake, Belarus’ participation in Eurovision 2014, which ranked 16th.
