SAN MARINO – On Saturday evening, “Una Voce per San Marino”, the San Marino selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, crashed like a comeback. Although we have no official estimates (for now) we can say that it is a success in terms of audience.
San Marino RTV, small state television and 50% owned by RAI, is modest in size and covers the adjacent Italian provinces of Rimini, Forlรฌ and Cesena, Pesaro and Urbino in addition to the national territory. This premise puts in the right context some of the technical problems encountered during the live broadcast.
The signal that San Marino RTV broadcasts on digital terrestrial were poor, the situation via the web slightly better (albeit with a slight delay of 30 seconds / 1 minute). Viewers tuned to Sky and the Spanish TENtv were lucky.
The TV ran for cover during the evening to restore the sound system, with the firm desire to broadcast the show in the best possible quality.
Despite the problems, the show dented Saturday night regulars. San Marino RTV is not detected by Auditel and therefore (as of now) we have no official figure confirming how many spectators it has registered. Fanpage has already done the dirty work though.
Amadeus and his “Affari Tuoi – Famiglia Format” filled with Sanremo presences glued a 17.1% share to the screen with 3,595,000 spectators. For her part, Maria De Filippi received a slap with the worst result since 2019 for “Cโรจ Posta per Te” which closed with 5,005,000 spectators with a share of 27.4%, losing about 300,000 spectators along the way.
In comparison with Saturday 12 February, it is evident that the transfer of the audience has just affected the Maria di Canale5, leaving the other channels basically unchanged.
The Sanmarinese Eurovision selection for Eurovision 2023 will be Una Voce per San Marino.
During the winner’s press conference, Federico Pedini Amati, the Republic of San Marino’s Secretary of State for Tourism, Postal Services, Economic Cooperation, and the World Expo, revealed that Una Voce per San Marino will also be used to pick the country’s entry for Eurovision 2023.
“We’re not going to stop here. We’ll be much larger next year.”
One of the key supporters of the selection was the Republic of San Marino’s Ministry of Tourism, Postal Services, Economic Cooperation, and the World Expo.
