Live from the capital of Romania, we welcome you to the live report of the Romanian National Final 2013, Selecศia Naศionalฤ Eurovision 2013. The show begins at 20:00 CET and can be watched here. We would also love to read your comments as an exciting night is ahead of us! Enjoy the show!
With lots of carnival spirit the show begins on time and the hosts look amazing! an ABBA song accompanies a short recap video from the two semifinals. The jury is also introduced and we are ready for the grand final. 12 acts are participating tonight. The competition part begins.
Casa Presei – Un refren
A bit uninteresting opening for the show tonight this song reminds me the old Italian entries in the Eurovision Song Contest. The sexy saxophone player seems to be the visual ace of the act and the vocal performance is smooth with the artists been confident and not nervous on stage. I seriously doubt this will win tonight.
Narcis Iustin Ianฤu – Seven
I didn’t expect this! operatic and lyric performance with a stage presentation which is totally kitsch. High notes not delivered properly and the song sounds more boring than anyone can expect. This is definitely not winning tonight or else I will cancel my spa session!
FreeStay – Criminal Mind
Finally the first descent act of the evening (trust me I haven’t heard the Romanian songs so far so it’s my first time tonight). Powerful opening, a mainstream pop song with great quality although I would strongly suggest better outfits (too outdated I would dare to say). The song is very nice and could be one of my own favourites tonight!
Elena Cรขrstea Muttart – Spinning
I feel this song is all about Women’s Day especially the middle aged ones. The classy dress and the over-welcomed passion to perform is making this very outdated. Some parts sound like she is a Barbara Streizant wanna be and some parts reminds me of Linda Martin (1992) and a Melodifestivalen song in recent years (I cannot remember the title now). Not a chance this one wins!
Luminiศa Anghel – Unique
Luminiศa is back in the Eurovision game and gives an outstanding performance. The vocal skills of this woman are simply amazing. The song is too flamengo, too tango, too outdated and not what can make Romania score high in Eurovision. Amazing theatrical performance but wrong song!
Ovidiu Anton – Run away with me
Romanian ethnic sounds with pop rock elements and English lyrics: yes, it’s trash! It tried to sound as quality song but for me this is not a modern song and not a representative of Romania. Some points of the song chorus sound like American country music which is not nice at all. Not a winner as well.
Cezar – It’s My Life
Oh my God! I have to review this too? This is dreadful and cannot be described: too much fuzz with operatic performance and a kitsch stage presentation. Are Romanians nuts? Hope they definitely not allow this one to win!
Cristian Prฤjescu – The Best Thing In Life Is To Love
A nice and melodic ballad performed by these young boys who are definitely not entirely confident on stage. Not winners tonight but they surely gave a very promising performance.
Electric Fence – Emilia
OK another Koza Mostra and this time from Romania. Lovely song with ethnic elements (it would fit Moldova very well) and fun on stage all time long. Interesting, I can even see it winning but somehow this is not a Eurovision song. I have to admit I am clap dancing while reviewing it.
Al Mike feat. Renee Santana – What Is Love
Wrong outfit but strong vocals on this act and an interesting – somehow – international tune. This could be a good radio hit bid but there’s something missing actually. The dance act and the backing vocals need immediate replacement they don’t work well for the singer.
Tudor Turcu – Hello
OK we got the message Tudor can sing and draw at the same time. Rock pop entry with good potentials and quite good performance. Nothing special here but let’s pay closer attention to it.
Andrei Leonte – Paralysed
Finally we get another 80s dance act with lots of energy and dancing on stage. Andrei isproving to be a good performer on stage but something is missing here as well. Let’s see what happens tonight because so far I didn’t really liked any of the songs for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.
The recap of the song continues, the participants are interviewed in the Green Room. We also have a live feed of the televoting and we have special performances: for the first time Belarusian entrant Alyona Lanskaya performs live the song “Solayoh” and we also have Paula Seling and Ovi performing their solo songs as well as their 2010 Eurovision entry one of the most successful for Romania in Eurovision and we can’t wait for the results (finally!)
Cezar won the national final with the song “It’s My Life” all the best to Romania

Awful. He should take some lessons from Malena Ernman. And if her song only managed place 21 in the final, this has to stay in the semi.
It is sad for one reason: ROMANIANS have great music and they decided to sent a TRASH in eurovision. I am very sad because I LOVE ROMANIA
If only Cezar was as easy on the ears as he is on the eyes, then perhaps his win could be justified.
the worst choice! *sad*
