GERMANY – Thomas Schreiber, the Head of Entertainment at NDR, made a statement about those 140 musicians worldwide who are calling for a boycott of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
“The Eurovision Song Contest is a long-standing, non-political entertainment program that brings together audiences and countries, there was no discussion with full EBU members and affiliates about a boycott of the competition in Israel, and all EBU members are eligible to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest have until October to confirm their participation in the event next year. The Israeli broadcaster has the right and duty to host the Eurovision Song Contest with Netta’s victory in Lisbon . We look forward to ESC 2019 in Israel.”
THE NETHERRLANDS – Congratulations are in order as Glennis Grace, the 2005 Dutch participant, mad it to the final of America Got Talent show after one more public voting.
SPAIN – Operación Triunfo 2018 kicks off on September 19th and RTVE confirmed that once again it will be used to decide the Spanish representative for Israel’s Eurovision Song Contest edition.
CYPRUS – Eleni Foureira, runner-up of the Eurovision 2018 Festival, will be present at the inaugural gala of the seventh edition of Tu Cara Me Suena, where she will be imitated by one of the contestants.
SWITZERLAND – Switzerland received 6,100 applications from fans all over the country in order to become jury members for the upcoming internal selection. In the meantime the Swiss Italian broadcaster continues the web poll for the 13 bids. You can listen to the songs here.
All 13 songs can be heard on the official webpage of RSI Eurovision selection and the public can cast its vote. The deadline for casting votes due on Friday, September 28th at 12:00 CET.
