BELGRADE, SERBIA – Serbian broadcaster RTS says it will announce the country’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest on March 7, while the song will be presented on March 12 at 21.00 CET as previously announced.
Head of the Serbian delegation, Dragan Ilić, says, “We will present a fresh young face which will be a surprise for both local and foreign Eurovision fans. The artist will use all of RTS’ resources on offer including our orchestra, arrangers and producers. Therefore, for the first time, RTS will be sending a song to Eurovision that has been produced by RTS itself”.
Local media suggest that Sanja Vučić will represent the country with the song “Sklonište” (Safe house), which will be sung in English. The song deals with violence against women. It was composed by popular Serbian singer Ivana Peters.

Following a win in 2007 and a third place in 2012, Serbia had a run of lackluster results at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2015, Bojana Stamenov came tenth with her song “Beauty never lies”. She was the first Serbian artist at Eurovision to sing in English.
