SWEDEN – The 2016 Marcel Bezençon Awards were handed out last night with Eurovision’s top three all being recognised. The press award, given to the best entry as voted on by the accredited media and press, went to Sergey Lazarev from Russia and his entry “You Are the Only One”.
The composer award, given to the best and most original composition as voted on by the participating composers, went to Australia’s “Sound of Silence” sung by Dami and composed by David Musumeci & Anthony Egizi.
Finally the artistic award, presented to the best artist as voted on by the commentators, went to the winner of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest Jamala and her entry “1944”.
The Marcel Bezençon Awards were established in 2002 at the Eurovision Song Contest hosted in Tallinn. Founded by Christer Björkman, the awards are named after the creator of Eurovision – Marcel Bezençon.
