GENEVA – Secure sources reached to oikotimes.com told us that Ukraine unfortunately is facing banning from the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest due to the fact they didn’t allow the Russian entrant to participate. The decision will be reached next Monday. Within the EBU’s Reference Group there are two “camps”: one claiming that a financial penalty will be ideal so Ukraine to be punished but also to appease things silently and the other saying that Ukraine should be banned from the contest from 1-3 years. On the other hand there seems that Russia will also receive a penalty. The reason is not only that they didn’t air the contest but that they didn’t attend the HoD meeting they were suppose to. In that case though Russia has no serious affect from potential banning of Channel One from Eurovision 2018 as RTR will replace them, as eligible broadcaster to participate. In this case too there is also the thought of simple financial penalty. Nothing mentioned above can be confirmed, these are all thoughts transferred to oikotimes.com and things will clarify on June 12th.
