To start, tell us something about yourself so Eurofans can get to know you better.
I.C.E. is a pop rock band that was formed in 2005. Our music is energetic, positive, and is enhanced by strong vocals of our singer Renate. Our listeners know us for the songs “Na liniji” (On line) and Kje si zdaj” (Where are you now).
When did you decide apply for EMA 2015?
We decided to apply for EMA very late, about a week before the deadline for applications. This year we are also planning to release a new studio album and EMA is a really good opportunity for a great promotion of our music to a wider audience. Today, the media is a little bit down with attention towards to rock music, and EMA is probably the most important musical event of the year, so we had no hesitation to apply for it. At the same time we would have a tremendous honor to represent Slovenia at a such prestigious event like the Eurovision Song Contest.
Can you tell us something about your song?
Our song is energetic, passionate, loud and has a strong rhythm. We believe it is necessary for a good song to have an idea, what we do. We hope that the listeners will get a true picture of us and that they will like it.
Among the other participants, who do you consider your main competition?
Unfortunately we have not yet had a chance to hear the songs of other participants, so it is very difficult to say. All selected artists are excellent and each is in a different genre, so that makes this year’s EMA very quality because of the diverse spectrum of music types. Honestly, we are not in competitive mood. We think that music isnโt competitive discipline. A victory will ultimately be decided by the listeners and all depends on their taste.
What is your favorite song that has represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest, and what is your favorite among others? From the Slovenian ones, we most striking like “Samo ljubezen” sung by the Sisters. Among others we prefer Lordi and Tajฤi. The first one is totally in our style, as it is written on our skin and the other is well listened among young people, but to us it also brings nostalgia for the past times.
