SLOVENIA – Slovenian national broadcaster confirmed EMA 2019 as the national selection show launching submissions.
EMA (Evrovizijska Melodija) will be one off show with no semi finals and will have up to ten participants.
In the final the ten songs will compete for the Super Final where two songs will fight for the public vote.
The Slovenian broadcaster has also stated that they may invite artists/songwriters to take part in the contest. The deadline for submissions is December 14.
Slovenia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 24 times since its debut in 1993. Since then, the country has missed only two contests, in 1994 and 2000.
Slovenia’s best result in the contest is seventh place, both in 1995 with Darja Švajger and 2001 with Nuša Derenda.
The country’s only other top ten result being a tenth-place finish for Tanja Ribič in 1997.
Since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Slovenia has failed to reach the final on 10 occasions, and made it to the final in 2007, 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2018.
