SAN MARINO – The participation of San Marino to the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 and its cost were put into question during the national council of the Most Serene Republic.
The president of SMTV, Doctor Luca Marcucci answered the debate saying: “San Marino’s participation at the Eurovision Song Contest is not sudsidised by the Government and has never been subsidised by the Government. The cost of participation is always covered by the musicians as part of signed partnerships.”
In other words, in order to secure its participation and avoid the misadventure of other countries (Croatia and Cyprus so far…), the participation of San Marino does not depend on public funding but on the participant and their sponsorship.
So Valentina can pack her bags to Copenhagen (and save some Euros as well)…
