SPAIN 2017 – Spanish national broadcaster announced the finalists of the Spanish national selection Objetivo Eurovisión in which tonight’s Eurocasting winner. Along with LeKlein here are the five finalists.
Mirela was a former Junior Eurovision national finalist at the age of 14 competing with who would be that year’s Junior Eurovision winner in Lillehammer; Maria Isabel. In 2006, Mirela took part in Spanish talent show “Gente de Primera” and ended up as the runner-up, a theme repeated when she competed a year later in the Spanish National Final with the song “La Reina de la Noche”, where D’Nash came out victorious. In 2008 she once again competed to represent Spain at Eurovision but failed to reach the final, however she placed fourth in 2009 with the song “Nada es comparable a ti” (Nothing compares to you). In 2012 she emerged in Spanish talent show, “La Voz” (The Voice) but was eliminated early on. Since 2013 she has been working in theatre, taking part in the Lion King and in special television musical specials.
Mario Jefferson is a former “Operación Triunfo” (Fame Academy) contestant who achieved third place in 2011. A new talent on the scene he released his first album which included material written by other artists, including a duet with American RnB singer and actress, Jojo. His style of music has been compared with Justin Bieber, Mika or Bruno Mars.
Manel Navarro is a singer who made his name in a Catalan talent show and was able to follow up with a single released on iTunes in 2016. New to the scene, he has joined the same production company which currently manages Daniel Diges, who represented Spain at Eurovision 2010.
Paula Rojo is a singer noted for her rock and country style of music who competed in “La Voz” (the Voice) in 2012 leading to be signed up by a record company the following year and releasing her solo album. Paula has previously formed part of many musical groups both in her native Asturias and in Vigo. A follow-up album was released in 2015.
Maika Barbero is a singer who has been present in many talent shows before making her name in “La Voz” (the Voice) in 2012. Her time on the show ensured a third place finish. She followed this up with the release of a number of singles in 2013 and an attempt to represent Spain at Eurovision 2016.
TVE are looking to make the most of the Spanish national final in 2017. The format to be used to select the chosen song is twofold. Firstly an official App for Eurovision which will be available to download online and secondly the option to vote on the RTVE.es website. Votes will be limited by IP address to one vote per person but voting will be permitted inside and outside of Spain.
