ESTONIA – The Eesti Laul final was held tonight. Stefan was named champion, and his song “Hope” will represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy.
First, the best three songs from the night were chosen by a joint televote and worldwide jury to compete in the super final. The outcome of the super final was determined solely by popular voting.
Uku Suviste, the Estonian representative for 2020 and 2021, made an appearance. The jury also included 2006 champion Mr Lordi, who won the contest for Finland with his song “Hard Rock Hallelujah.”
Voting in the Eesti Laul final was done across 2 rounds. During the first round of voting, all 10 artists performed their potential Eurovision entries, with a public vote making up 50% of the score and a jury contributing the other 50%.
This resulted in the 10 acts being whittled down to a final 3.
In the second round of voting, the top 3 songs were performed again, and this time a public vote was the sole method used for determining the winner.
Stefan was that chosen winner, and will now represent Estonia at the 66th Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, with the song ‘Hopeโ
