SWEDEN – On Saturday, Melodifestivalen premieres at the former Globen Arena, now Avicii. As it has been known for a long time, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the process of appointing the Swedish representative for Turin will take place exclusively in Stockholm!
However, a problem seems to have arisen for the fourth semifinal on February 26, because Tomas Ledin closed the Avicii Arena on that date.

Melodifestivalen 2022 continues to be surrounded by uncertainties, especially when it comes to the arena.
However, according to SVT Nyheter’s Melodifestivalen reporter Helin Pakdemir, Melodifestivalen officials will definitely hold the first three semifinals at the Avicii Arena, leaving the next phases of the competition unclear.
Arena with double booking
However, the date is still uncertain. The day before the fourth competition, Tomas Ledin has closed the arena for an almost sold-out anniversary concert, while he announced earlier this week that he will not be moving his concert.
The announcement of SVT
SVT responded immediately through an official announcement in which it seems that the Fourth and Fifth semifinals as well as the grand final of Melodifestivalen 2022 will take place at the Friends Arena in Stockholm!
Anette Brattstrรถm project manager for Melodifestivalen 2022 says:
The combination of Avicii Arena and Friends Arena is a good solution from a TV point of view. We have a great habit of producing Melodifestivalen from both arenas. Now it’s a lot of fun that an even bigger audience can also experience our show live.
