STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Today the fourth semi final rehearsals started in Gävle, Sweden. Seven more acts will be presented this Saturday with Molly Sandén been the favourite not only for the semi final but also to win the entire national selection this year. So clip by clip (available by SVT) we will present you the participating entries and our review.
Eclipse – ”Runaways”
It feels like we see Wig Wam once again. The red stage and the microphone use as if it was a banner surely reminds the 2005 Eurovision entry of Norway. The vocal performance seems OK but don’t see or listen anything convincing enough to see this act even in the second chance.
Dolly Style – ”Rollercoaster”
A dance schlager song with a monotonous rhythm which might be appealing to the Swedish audience (only). The three girls seem to have good vocals and they are quite energetic but from the video capture there is no clear justification over why they are so active. Interesting but not convincing as well.
Martin Stenmarck – ”Du tar mig tillbaks”
A powerful ballad by Martin, who proudly represented Sweden in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. Solo performance for the singer and excellent vocals. Still don’t think that Martin can do much more than getting to the second chance this time for Melodifestivalen.
Linda Bengtzing – ”Killer Girl”
One more schalger entry with the excellent vocals of Linda. Somehow I think this is an amazon entry for a show like Melodifestivalen but we have heard hundreds of songs like this in MF and Eurovision anyway.
Frans – ”If I Were Sorry”
An interesting entry by Frans, not only in terms of vocals but also in terms of tune. A fresh modern act which surely will make an impact in this semi final of Melodifestivalen.
Panetoz – ”Håll om mig hårt”
An interesting afro style dance song with nice vocals and enthusiastic group of singers on stage, which by the way looks marvellous every time I see it, but the song is definitely not for Eurovision and definitely not something that can convince me to vote for a country like Sweden.
Molly Sandén – ”Youniverse”
Does Molly struggles to deliver the song vocally or is it my impression only? The song, a favourite to win Melodifestivalen, is definitely “inspired” by Loreen’s “Europhoria” and “Paper Light”. Molly is definitely killing the song with that awful outfit and although the tune has some potentials to boost your interest in it, she lacks of a star quality, something that Loreen had.
