STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Frans, although missed the jury top by one vote, won the 2016 Melodifestivalen and although with a song which is accused for plagiarism will compete in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest next May.

Frans Jeppsson-Wall (born 19 December 1998), known professionally as Frans, is a Swedish singer. He was born in Ystad, Skรฅne, Sweden. He is best known for his football anthems with Elias including the 2006 hit “Who’s da Man” dedicated to Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimoviฤ. The song credited to the band Elias featuring vocals by Frans stayed at the top of Sverigetopplistan, the official Swedish Simgles Chart for 13 weeks. Jeppsson-Wall’s father was born in Nigeria and raised in England, while his mother is Swedish. He was thus raised speaking both English and Swedish. In the Christmas of 2006, he had a minor hit with “Kul med Jul” that broke the Swedish Top 30 reaching #24. Another sports chart topper for Frans was the 2008 hit “Fotbollsfest”, a song launched in support of the Swedish National Football Team.[6] It stayed one week at the top of Sverigetopplistan.
After years of absence from the charts, Frans returned with his participation in Melodifestivalen 2016 in a bid to represent Sweden in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “If I Were Sorry” co-written by Oscar Fogelstrรถm, Michael Saxell, Fredrik Andersson and Frans himself. He performed it in Gรคvle during the fourth and last semi-final leg of the competition on 27 February 2016 making it directly to the final 10 competition on 12 March 2016 in Stockholm. Immediately after his performance, the single was released proving very popular and going straight to number 1 of Sverigetopplistan in its first week of release.
