UKRAINE – Following the disturbing news from Kyiv yesterday when Aleksandr Kharebin, Acting Director General of NTU that the Ukrainian capital might loose the hosting job on December 8th at the EBU General Assembly, explained himself on Facebook.
Despite in the interviews speaking about risk of loosing the hosting as they are one month behind schedule (although previously they were two months behind) Mr Oleksandr Kharebin stated today that there is significant progress and there is no red card anymore but a yellow card by the EBU. On December 8th he will be presenting the progress for the Eurovision preparations to the EBU only.
He also clarified on Facebook that: He did not state that Ukraine was at risk of losing the contest. A decision on the contest being taken away from Ukraine will not be made on December 8, on this date NTU will be presenting their plans to the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva. Eurovision 2017 will cost 650 million UAH and not 1.2 billion UAH as reported. There was no imply concerning transparency on the tenders for ticket sales, branding, stage design.
