This post will present you the TV rating from all countries participated (or not) in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 (semifinals and final). It will be constantly updated this week.
Regarding the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 Final the official numbers according to ERT are: The average TV rate was 66,6% for the entire show. The peak of the TV ratings were 85,3%. This is one of the highest TV rates Eurovision had in Greece. In total 2,7 million viewers watched the show.
SBS scored its highest ratings of the year last night when an audience of 751,000 tuned in to watch the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest finale. The figure marked the highest Eurovision rating on SBS since OzTAM ratings began in 2001. The metro audience figure for last night’s final was 595,000 while regional markets recorded an average audience of 156,000. The SBS Eurovision final and its two semi-finals, hosted by Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang, reached 2.93 million viewers over the weekend (2.18 million metro and 750,000 regional) nationally for at least five minutes of consecutive viewing. The final recorded a metro free to air share of 13.8 per cent as Australia tuned in to see Denmark’s Emmelie de Forest (see video below) take out the competition with 281 votes.
Over the weekend the #SBSEurovision hash tag received over 180,000 tweets with an average of 330 tweets per minute during the broadcasts. The #SBSEurovision hash tag was trending worldwide on Friday night during semi-final one. The SBS Eurovision website received 188,943 visits this month, with its peak on Sunday with 63,435 visits. Australia agreed with Europe, voting Emmelie de Forest Australia’s Unofficial Eurovision Winner with 36,556 votes. Greece came in second with their song Alcohol is Free receiving 30,958 votes, which was closely followed by Romania with Cezar on 28,896 votes.
As the Grand final was finished two nights ago, now the national boardcasters are presenting the rates. First we have BBC, where the show managed to geather 7,7 million viewers and while Bonnie was performing the numer rose to 9.2 million. These rates are for 250.000 viewers better than the show from Baku, but still is under Dusseldorf’s show when over 11 million people tuned in to see Blue’s performance.
We have already informed you with Dutch’s share from the first semifinal and now we can say that on Saturday 4.9 million people watched the show, while 6 million people watched Anouk on stage.
And we continue with the rates from Germany. They are avarage, but still made Das Erste #1 watched television of the day. 8.21 people watched the whole show, while 80.000 more tuned in while Cascada was performing.
Spanish viewing figures are probably the worst as they are down for 10 % then last year. Eurovision Song Contest was being watched by almost 5.4 million people. Belgrade’s show still holds the record with the amazing share of 59.3 %, or 9.4 million people. Stay tuned as we will present you the rest of the share as they come out.
While we finished in last place on Saturday night’s Eurovision, over 1m TV viewers in Ireland were cheering on Ryan Dolan on RTÉ One. The reach (ie the number of people who tuned in at some point for one minute or more) for the programme was over 1.8m viewers (1,826,000), while the peak minute viewing figure at 10:59pm when Dolan was performing was 1,079,700. An average of 799,700 people watched the whole show; in 2012 an average of 764,500 people watched the Eurovision Song Contest Final. The reach figure in 2012 was 1,751,700, while the peak minute viewing figure last year was 1,011,900. Ireland’s Head of Delegation Michael Kealy said: “We’re thrilled with the viewing figures. It’s clear to see that the viewing public really got behind Ryan.”
Eurovision Song Contest 2013 – semifinal 1: 1 540 000 – semifinal 2: 1 250 000 these were the higest ratings ever for semifinal without Swedish partcipation. Final: 3 370 000 viewers / Higest ratings in 5 years for the final. More people choosed to watch ESC final than Sweden becoming world champions in Ice hockey on Sunday, (2 913 000 viewers on that) But still final in Melodifestivalen was watched by 4 150 000
Hungary is probably country with the best rates in Central Europe. At least for a moment over 3 million people saw the show, while 32.6% watched it from the beging till the end. That is alsmost double than last year’s show, which gained just over 18%, and 8% better than the 56th edition of show when they returned after one year break. Also we have the numbers from the semifinals. First gained 442.000, while the second had 731.000 watchers.
TV rates form Norway are also in. Semifinal 1 gained 538.000 watchers, while the second had 938.000 people watching it. When it comes to the Grand Final, an amazing number 1.6 million people watching it, and that is equal to 84.2% of all TV viewers that were watching something that night.
RAI published their rates from the Saturday’s night show. They say that it is a little bit better than last year. Almost 2 million people watched the entire show and that is 9.17%, but while Marco was performing 2.5 million Italians tuned in to see his performance.
DR says that this year’s contest is most watched in last 11 years. The only show that watched more is when they hosted the contest. Over 1.7 million people watched Emmelie going on top of musical Europe and that is 800.000 more than show from Baku. If we’re talking in percents, 80% of all Danish TV viewers were watching the show. The first semifinal was being watched by 929.000 people, while 407.000 people tuned in on webstream.
Amandine and France were chosen to perform first in the final. SVT and the producers probably jinxed the country by this decision so the country ended up 23rd with just 14 points. Eurovision was 4th most watched show of the day. France 3 lost the battle to TF1 who aired the final of “The Voice France”. The contest from Malmo is the least watched in years and it gained only 2.7 million viewers or just under 14%. That is for 1.3 million people less than last year, when Anggun would finish last with nul point if televoting was counted only.
Another TV rates are out and they are from Ukrainan First Channel. First semifinal, where Zlata competed got the share of 4.27% or over 400.000 viewers, while the second one was being watched by almost 320.000 people or 3.4% of all TV viewers. When it comes to the Grand Final, 12.82% (1.1M) watchers where with their TVs for intire show, but when voting started, numbers went up to 25% and while the show was coming to its end, numbers got even higher and they were somewhere about 27%. We can just say that these numbers are very good, compared to some other countries.
And we have a winner! Iceland’s TV rates are the best with no doubt, as they are all over 90%. First semifinal was watched by 92.9% of all Icelandic viewers, while the second one, where Eythor competed, got the share of 98.4%. The Grand Final had an amazing share of 98.9%. This is certainly connected with the fact, that for the first time in 16 years we heard Icelandic language on Eurovision stage.
Even though Hannah did not qualify, Eurovision still marks good rates in Slovenia. First semifinal had the share of 31%, what is equal to over 200.000 viewers. Saturday night’s show had a small decrease of less than 2%, so that means that over 160.000 people tuned in. As a small reminder we will just say that Slovenia has only qualified twice for the final, in 2007. and 2011.
