ROMANIA – What an amazing news come from Romania. Ovidiu Anton, the disqualified Romanian representative of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is officially invited to perform in the Romanian national semi-final on February 26: “I’m so pleased to be performing at Selectia Nationala with my new band,” Ovidiu said in a press release issued today. We’re doing this for Eurovision fans worldwide, and for all my fellow Romanians who supported me and were with me. We’ll be playing my entry from last year and also some new songs I’ve been working on”. The statement comes months after his furious statement that he doesn’t want to hear about Eurovision anymore. For the national selection a jury will decide on the semifinalists in a series of special television shows, which will air on January 27, 28 and 29. There will be 15 participants who will compete in the semi final on February 26th while the final will take place on March 5th with the winner decided totally by the public.
UKRAINE – Ukrainian broadcaster STB announced that on January 15th will check he online voting and the entries submitted to fully comply with the rules. The final list of participants will be released at any time from 16th to 31st January, ahead of the first semi-final on 4th February. Ukrainian selection will be held over 4 weeks, with three semi-finals every Saturday from 4th to 18th February and a grand final on 25th February. Between 20 and 40 acts will be selected to compete, however no further details have been announced by either STB or NTU.
ICELAND – The 12 acts for the 2017 edition of Söngvakeppninni are going to be announced next Friday, January 20th, at 19:40. Consequently, the songs will be available on songvakeppnin.is right after the announcement. Producer Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir said: “I can not say much but I can say that there are on the list performers who have repeatedly been linked with the race but never participated in it before. The law this year is to be really good.”. Söngvakeppninni is starting on Febuary 25th, with the first semi-final and the first six acts. The second semi-final is going to take place on the March 4th. The final is set for March 11th and is going to feature the top 3 acts of each semi-final. The decision will be made by jury and televote (50% each).
HUNGARY – Tonight Hungarian selection, A Dal kicks off with the first show. Hosted by Csilla Tatár & Levente Harsányi there will be 10 acts from which 5 will proceed to the next phase. Jury 80% and app voting 20% will determine the five qualifiers. There will be a 6th qualifier by tele voting. You can watch the show here at 20:34 CET.

LITHUANIA – Tonight the second heat of the 2017 Lithuanian selection will take place at 20:00 CET. You can watch the show live here. The jury already voted and tonight the public will vote for the following participants. The top ranked acts which receive the highest amount of points will qualify to the next stage of the show, kicking off from the 4 February. Six acts from tonight’s show will qualify to the next round.
