SWEDEN – Melodifestivalen 2022 will be the 62nd edition of the Swedish music competition Melodifestivalen, which will be organised by Sveriges Television (SVT) and take place over a six-week period between 5 February and 12 March 2022. The winner will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, to be held in Turin, Italy in May 2022. All shows will be hosted by Oscar Zia, with additional personalities expected to join as co-hosts.
The event is planned to return to its traditional tour around six cities of the country with venues available for spectators after the previous edition was entirely held in one place and without an audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first four semi-finals will be held in the Malmö Arena in Malmö (5 February), the Scandinavium in Gothenburg (12 February), the Saab Arena in Linköping (19 February) and the Sparbanken Arena in Lidköping (26 February). The Second Chance round, traditionally held on the fifth night, will be replaced by an additional semi-final, to take place in the Hägglunds Arena in Örnsköldsvik on 5 March, while the final will be held in the Friends Arena in Stockholm on 12 March.
In the newly added semi-final, the third- and fourth-placed songs from each of the previous four semi-finals (eight songs in total) will be placed into two groups, with the top two songs from each group proceeding to the final.
On 7 September 2021, Oscar Zia was revealed to return as a presenter for the show in 2022, after hosting the second semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2021. It was anticipated that he will be joined on stage by other personalities throughout the contest. Radio and television host Farah Abadi will serve as the artists’ interviewer along the course of the tour.
