BBC EXPERT PREDICTS RUSSIA TO WIN
The Eurovision Song Contest was started in the 1950s with the noble aim of bringing the countries of Europe together after WWII. But many of the competition’s regular viewers have more than a sneaking suspicion that all is not equal when it comes to the voting patterns. From Scandinavian mutual back-slapping to former Eastern bloc favouritism, the accusations of bias usually come thick and fast as soon as the judges register their scores. The introduction of a combination of televoting and jury votes has altered voting patterns but, according to Dr Derek Gatherer, it has not ended regional bloc voting. He has made a statistical study of how Eurovision votes are cast, in the hope of finding out what’s really going on. Using his calculations, Mr Gatherer predicts Russia will win the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.

OUR COMMENTS ON SVT WEBSITE
Immmediately when the second semifinal of Eurovision Song Contest 2013 ended, SVT kindly asked for our comments. We said to SVT.se that the results were somehow expected by us and as oikotimes.com predicted 8/10 for the second semifinal we were only surprised for Armenia and Romania. Check the story here in Swedish.
VIEWING RATES IN ROMANIA FOR SEMIFINAL 2
We now present you the ratings from Romania. Second semifinal was the third most watched show of the day with the share of 4.1%. Second most watched thing was a talent show for kids with the share of 5.4%, while a movie on Pro TV managed to gather 1.2 million people to watch it. But since Cesar somehow qualified for the Grand final, there is on doubt that more people will tune in on Saturday’s show.
DAY OFF FOR ALIONA MOON
During the last 2 days, wich were days off for Aliona Moon, Moldavian team decided to have some fun. So, on Wednesday Aliona and Pasha, together with their partners (Vova Fedorenko and Yuliana Scutaru) went to Copenhagen to the Amusement Park-Tivoli. “Pasha ensured me that we deserved a good “Fun Day”, and I was happy to accept the provocation! We had a lot of fun! What can be better than a day like this spent with your lover and your friends? We tried the most scary amusements, and there were moments when I was really afraid, and I said “if I will survive this, than I’m going to win ESC and whatever else!” I will remember this day for all my life like one of the most happy days!” – Aliona said. On Thursday, after some shopping in Malmo, Aliona had 2 perfomances. The first one was at the Eurovillage and the second one right before the second semifinal – at the EuroFan Cafe. Aliona was warmly greeted by the fans, and before and after the performances there were long autograph sessions. And of course Aliona watched for the second semifinal, to find out with whom she will compete on Saturday.
DROP IN THE IRISH VIEWING RATES
However on Tuesday night, Irish entry Ryan Dolan could only attract 386,700 adults, a drop of 17pc from 2012, when he performed in the semi-finals in Malmo, Sweden. “What RTE are suffering is the loss of the Jedward effect. Coming from X Factor, John and Edward always brought a huge audience to Eurovision. They might have come 19th in the final Contest last year but Jedward were a huge draw,” said one media observer. When first contacted, RTE disputed the figures, but two hours later confirmed they were correct before offering no further comment. Having finished in the final ten in the first semi-final, Ryan Dolan will now perform Irish entry ‘Only Love Survives’ in the Grand Final tomorrow. However RTE is unlikely to suffer any drop in revenue as the TV spots for the Saturday final are already sold.
AUSTRALIA VOTES FOR THE SEMIFINALS
Australia maybe can not participate at Eurovision, but SBS is airing the contest for 30 years now. Today first semifinal was aired and people had a chance to vote for their favourites. The top ten is as follows: Denmark, Montenegro, Ireland, Russia, Serbia, Croatia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Slovenia. As you can see, all four ex-YU countries should’ve find a spot in the Grand Final if you’re asking the Aussie voters, but for the first time in 27 years there won’t be influence of Yugoslavia in the contest.
