UKRAINE – With a grand total of 631 points, Kalush Orchestra won the competition in Turin, Italy. They currently hold the record for obtaining the most televote points in the contest’s history, and they also finished fourth with the juries.
Following Kalush Orchestra’s triumph in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, Suspilne held a news conference today. Suspilne Chairman Mykola Chernotytskyi remarked on hosting Eurovision 2023, explaining:
“I am eternally thankful to Oleg and the Kalush Orchestra. I am also thankful to Oksana Skybinska (Head of the Ukrainian Delegation โ ed.) for her assistance and representation of Ukraine. Despite the fact that it was tough to engage emotionally and organizationally, you did an outstanding job.”
Suspilne has already obtained the documentation needed to begin planning for next year’s Eurovision, and we really hope that it takes place in a peaceful Ukraine. We aim to be able to ensure the safety of all participants and attendees during the event.
Since Ukraine’s triumph, a number of broadcasters have expressed their desire to assist or host the 2023 competition if Ukraine is unable to do so.
The city of Stockholm has expressed its readiness to host, but SVT has yet to reply.
While Icelandic media has claimed that RV is optimistic about hosting the 2023 competition.
The Spanish network RTVE has also announced that they are prepared to host the competition if necessary.
TVP in Poland has shown the desire to assist Ukraine in hosting, as has RAI, which will broadcast the 2022 competition.
