UKRAINE – “MonoKate”, a documentary about Go_A’s lead singer Kateryna Pavlenko, premiered on UA:PERSHYI YouTube channel on 19 May. The viewers can watch the exclusive story of Kateryna’s life and the road to success in UA: PBC’s in-house project. The documentary is available with English subtitles.
The viewers will find out about Kateryna Pavlenko’s private and music life: where she grew up when she decided to become a singer and what road she had to walk towards her dream. The singer also reveals difficult periods of her life when she planned no future.
“You must do music not to get paid after a concert but to be willing to say something to this world. You must love our culture,” says Kateryna Pavlenko about her understanding of music.
This project consists of two interviews recorded one year apart: the first one right after the final of the national selection for Eurovision 2020 and the second one before the trip to Rotterdam.
“For this project, we recorded an interview with Kateryna right after the national selection in 2020. We tried to show her as she is. There are many personal things in it. For all of us, it is a great responsibility. Right before the show, after talking to Kate, we decided to leave one of the secrets off-screen because the singer was not ready to share it. She might decide to reveal it to the world but it must be her own decision,” said the project initiator Stanislav Miedviediev.
Kateryna Pavlenko together with Go_A band, the representative of Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, qualified for the Grand Final that will take place this Saturday, on 22 May. The Grand Final will be broadcast on the Ukrainian public TV channel UA: PERSHYI.
