UKRAINE –ย Ukraine has been freed from the necessity to tape a live performance for Eurovision 2022, according to Rai 1’s deputy director Claudio Fasulo.
In the event that an artist is unable to travel to Turin or becomes sick during rehearsals and is unable to appear in the broadcast program, the competition requires live-on-tape performances.
Mr. Fasulo made the remarks at a FIMI event today:
“The live-on-tape must have particular features, but we have waived that need because of the conditions: finally, we will utilize the video of their choice (Vidbir performance).”
Russian shelling of Lviv, a city on the Western border of Ukraine, has thwarted the Ukrainian delegation’s plans to record their performance there.
This year’s Eurovision Song Contest will have an all-Ukrainian cast, thanks to the efforts of the European Broadcasting Union and Radio Ukraine.
During the first Semi-Final, Kalush Orchestra will take the stage to play in sixth place.
