Finally, the rumours concerning the UK’s bid for Malmรถ, could see an end last night. It’s now revealed by both british tabloids, Daily Mail and Mirror, that 80’s star Bonnie Tyler is set to represent the United Kingdom at the 58th running of the Eurovision Song Contest. Dailymail.co.uk reveals that it’s an honour for her to be chosen as the british act for this year’s contest. The song, which Bonnie will be performing is called, ‘Believe in Me’. A track from her new slot, Rocks & Honey.
Bonnie became a very well-known worldwide singer , in the 80’s because of her singles, ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’ or ‘Holding Out For A Hero’.
On its side, Mirror.co.uk says: โBonnie could easily finish in the top 10 with this power ballad. She has decades of experience so should be able to pull this off with aplomb.โ They’re totally right, Bonnie’s voice, has always been special and unique, even though it’s always been unknown the final place that an artist could get before the contest. Eurovision is unpredictable.
British expect to break their slump with this amazing star and it’s expected that BBC officially presents her on Radio 2’s Ken Bruce show on March 18. The United Kingdom came 25th in Baku, with Engelbert’s Love Will Set You Free, getting only 12 points. Is this the starting of a new age for them at Eurovision?

What a pile of SH*T. “And the UK gives 0 points to… the UK.” In an attempt to recreate the ‘success’ of Engelbert, we’ve chosen a similar dirge for the second year in a row. I say ‘we’ — actually, I’m having nothing to do with this. I’m having second thoughts about even taking my Union flag to Malmรถ.
Huge Singer….small song :( anyway… she will score HIGH!!!
*March 18th, not May 18th – and the UK didn’t come last in Baku, either…
