DID YOU KNOW?
Serbia debuted as an independent country in 2007 with song Molitva (Prayer) sang by Marija Serifovic. That performance resulted with a victory, and with that came the right to host the contest next year. In 2008, the contest was held in Belgrade and in that year we saw many changes. For the first time we had two semifinals, the official trophy was introduced, jury came back to the contest, as they picked the tenth finalist in each semifinal. Also that year we saw 43 compeating countries what is still standing as a record. Serbia withdrew from the contest last year, due to lack of finances, but there are good chances that we will see Serbia next year in Austria, as it was hinted that the new representative, would be selected through a festival.
