SOCHI, RUSSIA – The new wave festival is considered as “Eurovision” of post Soviet Countries. It is one of the largest festivals in Europe, from which many Eurostars started their promising careers. Among them a winner, Dima Bilan who was fourth in 2002, the same year that Sergey Lazarev won the contest as part of the duet “Smash”.
Last night the prime minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev opened the festival in the city of Sochi in Russia while many Eurostars performed during the ceremony.
Among them Alla Puchagheva (Russia 1997) Phillip Kirkorov (Russia 1995) Dima Bilan (Russia 2006, 2008) Ani Lorak (Ukraine 2008) Polina Gagarina (Russia 2015) Valeriya (Russia NF, 2009) Sergey Lazarev (Russia NF, 2008).
Today the competition starts with two Eurostars representing their countries: Josephine Wendel (Greece NF, 2014) and Michele Perniola (San Marino 2015) representing Italy.
