THE STORY ON JUNE 3, 2013
Information from eurosong.be say that Björn Verdoodt confirms VRT plans to change and revamp the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest as in 2014 it will be the Flemish broadcaster taking over the contest. The disappointing results for Belgium the recent years demand a new approach and the Flemish broadcaster is eager to bring new and fresh formula for the national selection.
UPDATE
Flemish broadcaster VRT/Een, which is organising the 2014 Belgian Eurovision selection, says it is preparing a big show. All of those wanting to take part in the Eurosong 2014 national selection will have to send in a clip where they have to perform their own versions of Eurovision hits such as “Waterloo” or last year’s winner “Eurphoria”. Anyone can take part “anyone whoever dreamed of performing on the biggest stage in Europe to give it a try”, the broadcaster says. Those keen to take part can perform either individually or in group.
Composers and songwriters have also been asked to send in their Eurovision entries for the 2014 selection. Composers and songwriters do not have to be Belgian nationals. More information can be found here http://www.een.be/eurosong
