SPAIN – The first semi-final of Benidorm Fest 2022, the Spanish national team for Eurovision 2022, has just been completed. A total of 6 artists competed tonight, claiming the 4 tickets that led to Saturday’s final.
Initially, the contestants were 7 but Luna Ki withdrew, as it was not possible to use autotune in her track. The Tanxugueiras managed to fully recover from COVID and competed live tonight.
Salvador Sobral, the winner of Eurovision 2017 for Portugal, appeared in tonight’s semifinal, performing the winning song by Amar Pelos Dois as well as another of his songs.
The results were determined by 50% by the jury by 25% by a polling panel consisting of a statistically sampled sample of the Spanish public, and by 25% by televoting.
Each member of the committee, which consists of 3 Spaniards and 2 foreigners, rated the songs, from best to worst with the following rating: 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5 while the poll panel and televoting voted with the following scores: 30, 25, 20, 18, 15, 12. Tomorrow, at the same time, the second semifinal will take place, while on Saturday, January 29, the grand final will take place, where the representative of Spain for Eurovision 2022 will be selected.
