NORWAY – Norway chose a Duel format again this week, pitting two entrants against each other. The duel is won by the most votes cast through the app. Each of the two head-to-head battles has a winner. The two winning acts will then compete in the Gold Duel to decide who goes to the Final.
Due to COVID constraints, MGP does not have an audience. Instead, fans may “clap” through the NRK app and website. Anika Momrat returned following a COVID scare last week, although Kre Magnus Bergh missed due to the same issue.
Due to the epidemic, the Duels were drawn ahead of time. See who progressed and who faced off in the video below! In the opening round, Mari Blla and Oda Gondrosen battled it out. In the second battle, Vilda’s gigantic skill met Sturla’s serene cool.
NRK showed the third auto qualifier as Oda and VILDE warmed up. NorthKid was supposed to play yesterday night, but because of a COVID-19 scare, Subwoofer had to cancel. Subwoofer will play the semi-final next Saturday. After NorthKid, it was VILDE vs Oda. On 19 February, who would get the golden ticket? Oda was picked to battle another day, Mjollnir draped over her shoulder.
Her win sends VILDE, Mari Blla, and Sturla to the repechages. During the Second Chance event on February 12th, four artists will be selected.
Next week, our last four aspirants will face off in a similarly lengthy contest! Check out this handy visual I produced for you to view the five performers performing next Saturday:
