Singer Bonnie Tyler refused to tell her family about her plans to compete in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest as she was terrified they would post the news online. The Total Eclipse of the Heart hitmaker discovered last Christmas she was to represent Britain in the popular contest and struggled to keep the news to herself until it was officially announced earlier this month.
Tyler feared her younger relatives would release the news on social networking sites such as Facebook.com so she chose to keep quiet for months. She tells The One Show, “It was hell trying to keep this a secret because I have known since Christmas. I didn’t slip. Because of Facebook, with children and everything now I have to keep really tight. I was terrified it would come out.”
Tyler will perform Believe In Me, written for her by Desmond Child, at the competition in Malmo, Sweden, in May.
